Choices, dates and text stay in memory while browsing. Closing or reloading clears them. No personal input is saved in internal URLs or persistent browser storage.

Sending is your choice

WhatsApp receives the prepared text in its link when you ask to open it. You then send the message in the app. Instagram and phone are alternatives. Those services’ privacy rules apply when you use them.

Measurement and questions

ID Location uses Metricool to measure audience on the public website: pages opened, where visits come from and screen size. When a page opens, your browser sends tracker.metricool.com the page address without your personal parameters (only “utm_” campaign tags from our approved list are kept), the recognised domain of the site you came from (otherwise no referrer), the window size and the technical data every web request carries, including your IP address.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) complements this measurement on the production public website. It receives the public address of the opened page, without query parameters, fragments or a referring address, and technical connection data including IP address and temporary identifiers. Analytics storage and advertising features are disabled: no Analytics cookie is created or read. Google applies its own privacy policy. Interactions with the site's forms, messages and outbound links are not collected automatically. Views count document openings only; internal navigation and clicks are not an exhaustive journey record.

The measurement code sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser, and it does not run if your browser sends the “Do Not Track” signal or Global Privacy Control. Metricool applies its own privacy policy. A measured visit is not an enquiry, a rental or revenue.

Site measurement excludes names, phone numbers, email addresses, messages and free text. A prepared message or app handoff proves neither receipt, a confirmed rental nor paid revenue. Contact ID Location by WhatsApp, phone or Instagram about your information.

Documents and retention

Information and documents needed to handle a request or rental are retained according to the needs of the case and applicable obligations. Contact ID Location about your case or to exercise your rights.

Who handles your data

ID Location, in Montreux, is responsible for handling the data related to a request and a rental. For any question, or to exercise your rights, contact us by WhatsApp, by phone or on Instagram: those are the channels we monitor.

What a rental actually requires

Before a handover we check your identity and driving licence: that is a condition of the rental, not an option. We then handle the signed contract, the evidence of the vehicle’s condition at pickup and return, payment and accounting records and, where applicable, an incident, fine or damage file.

These files are kept apart: the signed contract, the condition evidence, the accounting records, any incident file and copies of identity or licence documents are not merged into a single set consulted for any purpose whatsoever.

How long, and why

How long depends on the purpose. Copies of identity and licence documents are kept only for as long as the verification and the follow-up of that particular file justify, then deleted. Contracts, accounting records and incident files may need to be kept longer where applicable law or a dispute requires it.

No single period is announced here for every document: it would be wrong for at least one of those purposes. Ask us how your own file is handled and we will describe it.

Access, recipients and security

Access to files is limited to the people who need it for the rental. Data may be passed to specific categories of recipient where necessary: a technical storage or messaging provider, a garage or expert for damage, an insurer, an authority in the case of a fine or offence, a legal adviser in a dispute. No data is sold.

A personal phone is not a filing cabinet: a file’s documents are not kept long-term in a messaging app or a device’s photo gallery, but in the storage intended for them, to which access is restricted.
